Z-Software GmbH announced that Dustwind: Resistance is scheduled to be released in June 2025. It's going to be available for the PC via Steam. The game is also launching on consoles PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

The game is considered as a spiritual successor to Dustwind – The Last Resort focuses on tactical squad-based warfare along with gritty storytelling and flexible playstyles. It offers a standalone single-player experience and features brutal and real-time tactical combat.

In a statement, Z-Software GmbH head Andreas Heldt revealed that this title is something that "Dustwind fans have been waiting for." It's been streamlined and made immersive. The game is also focused mainly on single-player action. Heldt went on to say that the game offers intense tactical combat via a new fully-fledged campaign.

Dustwind: Resistance is a single-player and real-time tactical game that's set in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. Players get to lead a squad of survivors that include their trusty dog Diesel. They get to fight back against a vicious raider army threatening their home. Players need to plan their every move and they can choose to use stealth, firepower, traps, and tech. They can also set up ambushes, deploy turrets and barricades, and crush enemies with vehicles.

Dustwind: Resistance is a brand-new and standalone story campaign that builds on the core mechanics that fans loved in the original. The only difference is that it's now fully tailored for a single-player experience. Features include:

  • A new full-length campaign with handcrafted missions.
  • Tactical Optimization through fully refocused and optimized for single-player tactical combat.
  • Now focused and refined exclusively for single-player gameplay.
  • A streamlined UI for smoother moment-to-moment tactics.
  • New and revamped skills and game mechanics.
  • Character system updates for deeper squad customization.
  • More varied environments that include snow and farmland.
  • Numerous unique weapons added along with a full weapon rebalance.
  • Tons of small improvements.

Another feature of the game is that players can create their own maps and campaigns in the Dustwind universe. They can share these with others on Steam Workshop through the built-in map editor.

A precise release date for the game is set to be announced in an upcoming press release. Wishlist Dustwind: Resistance on Steam now.
