Tanxun Studio announced that the Lvl 7 Major Update for Return From Core is now live. This is the last major content update for the sandbox survival RPG before its 1.0 launch on Steam. The update expands the story with a new setting as it deepens the gameplay with new mechanics and features.
The highlight of the update is the Underground’s Level 7. This is a completely new underwater area that takes players to the bottom of the ocean. Once they're done tunnelling through solid rock, players emerge into a water world where movement is now limited by oxygen levels and water pressure.
This eerie new setting also reveals the origin of the toxic fog that has permeated the earlier levels. It brings players one step closer to the surface and the truth behind humanity’s exile underground.
Other new content include:
- New Minerals: Tungsten, Gold.
- New Monster Girl: Ariel.
- New Map Boss: Trench Lord - Leviathan.
- New Equipment: Harpoon Pickaxe, Anchor Pickaxe, and Merman set.
- New Dishes: Stewed Meat with Kelp, Ants Climbing a Tree, and Sea Pearl Elixir.
- New Plants: Kelp, Coral, and Pearl Grass.
- New Material: Refined Crystal · Orange.
- New Machine: Advanced Storage.
- New furniture: Ocean furniture series.
- New Tech: Fish Farming.
Better Monster Girl
There are also interesting optimizations for Monster Girl. Her cooking for example has evolved. Players can now set a target dish for Monster Girl to cook on the Cooking Pot page. Then if there are enough ingredients, that dish is then prepared first.
Monster Girl farming has also evolved. She now has smarter farming AI, which multiplies the efficiency of farming. Monster Girl also now slowly recovers HP when she returns to camp.
Return From Core is a sandbox survival RPG that has elements of farming, crafting, and automation. The game is inspired by titles like Core Keeper. The story is set after an unknown cataclysm and humanity has abandoned the surface and now live deep underground.
Players take on the role of a lone explorer who’s determined to uncover ancient secrets and reach the surface once again. Along the journey, they encounter mysterious and endearing monster girl companions, whose stories offer insight into the forgotten history of the world.
