Amazon Games announced that they'll be holding a limited-time Preview Weekend in New World: Aeternum. It's going to feature the game's newest 3v3 Arena battleground, which is by far the largest Arena yet. The preview runs between June 17 to June 23.
Making this new Arena exciting is that the name has yet to be given a name, which is to be voted on by the community. In addition, the location is also steeped in mystery. What happened is that deep within Aeternum, Syndicate explorers have managed to uncover an ancient site. The purpose of this ancient site has long been forgotten and no one also knows who built it. While the weathered stonework suggests ties to early civilizations, it seems that the effigies and motifs hint at something that's far more primal. It may have been a place where animals or spirits were once worshiped or possibly feared.
Map Overview
The new Arena is quite possibly the largest 3v3 Map yet. It's almost 50% larger compared to the existing Arena maps. There's more elevation, cover, and flanking paths. For this map, ranged combat is a good option at the start. Eventually players are forced into melee engagements.
Environmental landmarks of the map include ancient statues, waterfalls, and weathered ruins. These provide natural callouts and add to the tactical depth.
Strategic Impact
Because of how the map has been designed, it allows for a unique flow which needs players to adapt. In team composition for example, range builds shine at the start but it's all about melee once the circle tightens. Players need to take that into consideration.
Another thing to remember is that static strategies won't work. To stay alive and win, it's important to consider positioning, cover usage, and role switching.
